Summary:

"Things should be great for Janie—she has graduated from high school and is spending her summer with Cabel, the guy she’s totally in love with. But deep down she’s panicking about how she’s going to survive her future when getting sucked into other people’s dreams is really starting to take its toll.
Things get even more complicated when she meets her father for the very first time—and he’s in a coma. As Janie uncovers his secret past, she begins to realize that the choice thought she had has more dire consequences than she ever imagined."

My Thoughts:

Janie is still struggling with her alcoholic mother, who seems nothing like a mother but more like a child, who needs to be taken care of. Cabel is still sticking to her side, knowing all the hurt and pain that may come from it. Janie's father is in a coma, and she has to make huge decisions about her future. Live with Cabel, possibly blind and work for the police force, or live in her fathers home, and continue his work, by selling knick knacks online.

While both of her options seem...horrible, Janie knew she had to pick one.

(Sorry this description isn't much longer, but it's been a while since I read it.)

Final Verdict:

Gone is the third and final installment in the Dream Catcher trilogy, and it's been well over two months since I've read it. I really liked the first two books, Wake and Fade, but Gone didn't come across the same way to me.

Why has it taken me two months to finally post my review?...I completely forgot. After I finished reading this trilogy, I decided to give it away, and writing a review simply slipped my mind. So here it is...

Gone, wasn't as explosive, or emotional as I thought and hoped it would be. Janie has these crappy choices to make, of either living a life and being blind, or living under a rock. In this final book I just couldn't relate to Janie. I felt like she completely neglected the only person that truly cared for her, and was willing to do anything with her; Cabel. She went for days without talking to him, because she needed "space". I guess I couldn't relate because, I'm the complete opposite. When I feel like crap, or have something on my mind, I need to talk to that person, ESPECIALLY if its my significant other.

I just didn't understand, Janie has nobody, but Cabel, and she just pushed him aside, for most of this installment.

Overall Gone was an okay read. There wasn't anything to crazy or mysterious going on, like there was in the first two books. It was much more focused on Janie, her family and her future. While I was hoping to get a lot more action, I didn't mind learning a bit about her father and mother, and their past. But not much of that happened either.

So I guess, I'll have to say that this was an okay book, but not at all what I was expecting for the final installment to such a good trilogy!

  1. I loved this trilogy and agree with you that this installment didn't have the whole mystery vibe that was present in the other books. But the ending was great at tying up all the loose ends!

    1. I think it was an okay read, but I have to say it felt more like a stepping stone book, that would just lead up to the next installment. But not really a finale.

  2. I think I've read the first book in this trilogy, but never continued with it, because it was just an okay read for me.

    1. I liked the first two, but this third one was a bit disappointing. It wasn't an explosive ending like I hoped it would be!
