Blogger of the Week #1

Happy Monday everyone!!

And welcome to the very first official "Blogger of the Week"! (Don't really know what this meme is about? Go to my last week's post, and you'll find everything you need there: Blogger of the Week Introduction!)

Forever Lost in BooksPlease give a warm welcome to Cathee from Forever Lost In Books!!

1. Who are you?! And what is your blog all about?

I am Cathee, a Canadian book blogger, who (obviously) loves reading and writing! I review books, do interviews, giveaways, and memes on my blog and other bookish posts on my blog :D

2. When did you jump into this blogging world, and what influenced you to do so?

Well, my blog started in June 2011, and I didn't know what I was doing and almost never posted, but when I came across The Story Siren's blog, I decided to make my blog more serious and start posting regularly. I have now mastered posting regularly (or, well, I want to convince myself about that :D)

(Just like you I also struggle with getting posts up on time, but I feel that recently I've been doing a lot better with it. Life can simply just get in the way of blogging, but what really has works for me, is when I have free time, instead of just writing the post for that day, I start typing up posts for the rest of the week; in case I don't find the time to.)

3. What is your favorite part about blogging? Reading? Writing reviews? Meeting people?

Reading, obviously, because you just jump into a whole other world; the world of a person that you'll never be, but you still can get in their shoes. I also love chatting with other book loves and book bloggers, because not many people I know like/love reading in English (since I am French, and so are the people around me, they don't like English, but I'm weird and I do!), and so I just love meeting someone to talk about books! If you ever want to talk about books, I'm on Twitter!

(I feel that's a common reason of why bloggers started blogging in the first place, they don't know anyone with a common interest so they go online looking for people to share their love and opinions on the interest; in our situation it's books!)

4. 2012 is still young, but what's your favorite book you've read so far this year?

Um... that's a hard one, but I loved Belles by Jen Calonita, Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, The Maximum Ride novels by James Patterson and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead!

(All books I still need to read, and can't wait to get my hands on!)

5. What new release are you dying to get your hands on?

The Selection by Kiera Cass, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, Insurgent by Veronica Roth, and many other (mainly HarperTeen) titles!

6. If you could be any character from any book, who would you be?

Cat from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, because she's such a badass, and she's got the hot and smexy Bones! Thanks a lot for having me :D

(No, thank you!)

If you would like to take part of "Blogger of the Week" and have you blog hosted here at Turning Pages, then send me an email with your name, your blogs name and a link to your blog to googirl94@gmail.com!

Teaser Tuesday: dash & Lily's Book of Dares

Welcome to Turning Pages,

I just finished writing and already posted my review of Dash &Lily's Book of Dares, just a little while ago. I haven't really done a Teaser in awhile, so I decided to do one for this book!:D If you haven't read it yet, you really should; I can't wait to read more from David Levithan and Rachel Cohn!

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares

"I want to believe there is a somebody out there just for me. I want to believe that I exist to be there for the somebody."

"I was horribly bookish, to the point of coming right out and saying it, which I knew was not socially acceptable. I particularly loved the adjective bookish, which I found other people used about as often as ramrod or chum or teetotaler."

"There are just lots of possibilities in the world…I need to keep my mind open for what could happen and not decide that the world is hopeless if what I want to happen doesn’t happen. Because something else great might happen in between. "

Book Review: Dash & Lily's Book of Dares

Dash & Lily's Book of DaresTitle: Dash & Lily's Book of Dares.
Author: Rachel Cohn & David Levithan.
Series: No.
Format: Paperback.
Pages: 272.
Source: Barnes and Noble.
Publisher: Knopf Books.
Published Date: 10/26/10
Summary:

"I’ve left some clues for you. If you want them, turn the page. If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.” So begins the latest whirlwind romance from the New York Times bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?"

Cover:

This cover could not have been designed any better! Even though it doesn't represent it's own personal story line, it does give the readers a few clues on what they might find within it's pages. The hearts in the rain and on the cross walk signal give away that it has romance! The arrow could symbolize, that both of the main characters are looking for their way; their path.

My Thoughts:

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares, is a story about growing up, and realizing that even though things might not be how they seem, situations can and will get better.

Wandering around in his favorite book store (which I'm sure we can all compare to), Dash finds a small red journal squished between a few books in the shelf. Curiosity gets the best of him, and he can't help but pull it out of the shelf, and open it.

Inside he finds a set of directions and challenges, which well drastically change his life. Instead of giving the book to the store owner like the girl's directions tell him to, he decides to take it with him, and write Lily a few of his own challenges.

Dash and Lily spend the next few weeks just send and passing this red leather notebook back and forth, and wondering and trying to imagine what the other might look and be like. When finally coming face to face, they are nothing they expected each other to be.

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares is such a cute story! Even though it takes place around December and the holidays, I think it's a perfect light read, to be enjoying in the summer, at the beach!

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Welcome to Turning Pages!!

I started off this week, with reading City of Ashes, by Cassandra Clare.

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)

"Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation."

I'm only on chapter six so far, school has been kept me busy yesterday, but tonight I'll have plenty of time to lay back, and read for a few hours. I've heard tons of amazing things about this series, and I really wish I would have read it as soon as I purchased it, instead of having it just sit around.

I'm also reading another book (do you guys do that too? Read more than one book at a time?) which is The Darlings In Love by Melissa Kantor.

The Darlings in Love

"The Darlings have just begun their second semester of ninth grade, and love is in the air. Victoria: The sweetheart Jack: The irresistible songwriter…but is he writing off Victoria? Natalya: The overachiever Colin: The perfect match, if only the game were less complicated Jane: The drama queen Simon: The Greek god… of mixed signals In the face of both joy and heartbreak, the Darlings know that they'll always have each other. Boys come and go, but the Darlings are still forever."

I am about halfway through this book, and it's just the cutest thing! I love it, and I think I'm might just post my review early for this book!

Blogger of the Week: Introduction!

Hello and welcome to Turning Pages everyone!

I've been contemplating if I should do this kind of weekly meme for a while now. Always going back and forth, on whether or not I should really take this upon myself. Finally I made my decision today, obviously since you're reading this post right now, I choose to give it a try. If it doesn't turn out well, or if no one wants to participate, then no harm was done. (At least I won't have that "what if?" monkey constantly sitting on my shoulder.)

What this meme is (short and sweet version), every week I will be interviewing a blogger almost like a author interview; this time it isn't about a author and their book, but it's about a blogger (like you and me) and their blog. No pressure, the questions won't be too intense!

The interview post will include, the questions (I'm not sure how many there will be, it may vary from blogger to blogger) and your answers, your blog button, and links to your blog, Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads etc.

I haven't thought out too many rules yet, but here are some:

-Must be a book blogger.
-Doesn't matter what genre books you review!
-Must send me an email (googirl94@gmail.com)

*After a few Bloggers of the Week, I'll know what to expect and change the rules and regulations accordingly! Of course I'll make another post informing you all of the changes.*

If you would like to participate in this awesome new meme, here at Turning Pages, then shoot me an email (googirl94@gmail.com) with your name, your blog's name, and a link to your blog!

In My Mailbox

Happy Sunday !!

This week I have a total of SEVEN books to show you guys, one is from the library, but the rest I purchased.

I'm finally out of my reading slump, and finished two books just yesterday! Reviews will come flying in at every angle, and I have a surprise post for you guys tomorrow! Besides that, Cinder is still up for grabs so make sure to stop by and enter, if you haven't already.

And last bit of news before I finally show you the books; I'm only 22 followers away from having 350, so I decided to have a huge giveaway, I was thinking....I dont know, 5 PRIZE PACKS?! I haven't figured out the details yet, but I'll make a post letting you all know what's going on(:

Anyways, on to the books!

The library book I checked out this week, is The Darlings in Love, by Melissa Kantor.

The books I bought this week, are...

...The Juliet Spell, by Douglas Rees.

The Juliet Spell

"I wanted the role of Juliet more than anything. I studied hard. I gave a great reading for it—even with Bobby checking me out the whole time. I deserved the part.I didn't get it. So I decided to level the playing field, though I actually might have leveled the whole play. You see, since there aren't any Success in Getting to Be Juliet in Your High School Play spells, I thought I'd cast the next best—a Fame spell. Good idea, right?Yeah. Instead of bringing me a little fame, it brought me someone a little famous. Shakespeare. Well, Edmund Shakespeare. William's younger brother.Good thing he's sweet and enthusiastic about helping me with the play...and—ahem—maybe a little bit hot. But he's from the past. Way past. Cars amaze him—cars! And cell phones? Ugh.Still, there's something about him that's making my eyes go star-crossed...."

...Sunshine, by Robin McKinley.

Sunshine

"There hadn't been any trouble out at the lake in years. Sunshine just needed a spot where she could be alone with her thoughts for a minute. But then the vampires found her . . . Now, chained and imprisoned in a once-beautiful decaying mansion, alone but for the vampire, Constantine, shackled next to her, Sunshine realizes that she must call on her own hidden strength if she is to survive. But Constantine is not what she expected of a vampire, and soon Sunshine discovers that it is he who needs her, more than either of them know. Originally published as an adult novel, but now in YA for the first time, Sunshine is an alluring and captivating vampire story, that will ensnare fans of paranormals everywhere."

...Beastly, by Alex Flinn.

Beastly Deluxe Edition

"I am a beast. A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster. You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell. Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly."

...Pathfinder, by Orson Scott Card.

Pathfinder (Pathfinder, #1)

"A powerful secret. A dangerous path. Rigg is well trained at keeping secrets. Only his father knows the truth about Rigg's strange talent for seeing the paths of people's pasts. But when his father dies, Rigg is stunned to learn just how many secrets Father had kept from him--secrets about Rigg's own past, his identity, and his destiny. And when Rigg discovers that he has the power not only to see the past, but also to change it, his future suddenly becomes anything but certain. Rigg’s birthright sets him on a path that leaves him caught between two factions, one that wants him crowned and one that wants him dead. He will be forced to question everything he thinks he knows, choose who to trust, and push the limits of his talent…or forfeit control of his destiny."

...Blood Promise, by Richelle Mead.

Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4)

"Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same. The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved? Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?"

...I Love You, You Haunt Me, by Lisa Schroeder.

I Heart You, You Haunt Me

"Girl meets boy. Girl loses boy. Girl gets boy back... ...sort of. Ava can't see him or touch him, unless she's dreaming. She can't hear his voice, except for the faint whispers in her mind. Most would think she's crazy, but she knows he's here. Jackson. The boy Ava thought she'd spend the rest of her life with. He's back from the dead, as proof that love truly knows no bounds"

If you have read any of these books please comment down below, and let me know what your thoughts are! I would love to hear what you have to say(:

Cover:

From the green highlights in the girl's hair, to her popping purple lips, I think this cover is amazing, and definitely an eye catcher; purely amazing!

My Thoughts:

Come to think of it, I've really been into reading about angels! It's probably just another one of my many, phases I go through. First Unearthly, who's review will be up soon, and now A Touch Morbid.

This book wasn't originally on my TBR for April, but when I received it in the mail from Me, My Shelf and I, for one of her book tours I knew I needed to read it, and review ASAP. If you don't know who she is, you really NEED to check out her blog right now, she does a ton of awesome things, and a lot of different and fun book tours!

A Touch Morbid is the second book in the A Touch Trilogy, so I'll try to keep this review as spoiler free as possible....sometimes I just get way to excited, jump up and down, and just want to tell you guys about every amazing part, that had my jaw dropped, touching the floor. It's a very bad habit...

A Touch Morbid, had my attention in it's tight grasp within just the first few pages. It took me from my bed in my boring old room (on a school, or weekend night, I'm not doing anything important) into a whole different world. It had me wishing that I could magically grow my own angel wings!

While Kristen is going crazy without Gabe, and not knowing what to do or whither or not to believe Luke, Eden wants to save Gabe and keep everyone together, Jarrod wants to help a human girl who is addicted to Touch, and Az just wants to make Eden happy, and to do so, he makes a huge sacrifice.

These characters each have something going on, so there's a lot to keep up with when reading A Touch Morbid, but after reading a few chapters you start to get the swing of things and you won't be as confused. But I feel that Leah Clifford did a really good job, reintroducing all of the characters and the situation.

If you haven't picked up this book, or A Touch Mortal, you really should! I'm not sure when the third and final book is hitting the shelves, but I'll make sure to get it, as soon as it does. Leah Clifford has an amazing way with her words, she makes them flow so easily, which makes me want to keep reading more. GO CHECK OUT THIS BOOK, NOW!

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Last week, not yesterday, but the Sunday before, I had borrowed a few books from the library, and I'm currently finishing up The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney.
My review wont be up until next weekend, simply because I have another review for a book tour that I need to post, and I just wont be able to get around to it. But I am pretty excited to let you all know what I thought about it, and how I can't wait to see what the second book has in store!(:

The Mockingbirds (The Mockingbirds, #1)

"Some schools have honor codes. Others have handbooks. Themis Academy has the Mockingbirds. Themis Academy is a quiet boarding school with an exceptional student body that the administration trusts to always behave the honorable way--the Themis Way. So when Alex is date raped during her junior year, she has two options: stay silent and hope someone helps her, or enlist the Mockingbirds--a secret society of students dedicated to righting the wrongs of their fellow peers. In this honest, page-turning account of a teen girl's struggle to stand up for herself, debut author Daisy Whitney reminds readers that if you love something or someone--especially yourself--you fight for it."

Have you already read and finished this book, or the second one in the series? Comment down below, and let me know what your thoughts are!! No spoilers PLEASE!

In My Mailbox

Hey Everyone! I can't believe it's already Sunday again? School's just been incredibly hard, since tons of testing  is going on, but still, I shall remain strong, and continue pushing through!!

This week I didn't head to the library, because I'm still finishing up last weeks books! But I did head to a few of my favorite local book stores and pick up a few new goodies!!

Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.

Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1)

"Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it. That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two. But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs. But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?"

White Cat by Holly Black.

White Cat (Curse Workers, #1)

"The first in a trilogy, this gritty, fast-paced fantasy is rife with the unexpected. Cassel comes from a shady, magical family of con artists and grifters. He doesn’t fit in at home or at school, so he’s used to feeling like an outsider. He’s also used to feeling guilty—he killed his best friend, Lila, years ago. But when Cassel begins to have strange dreams about a white cat, and people around him are losing their memories, he starts to wonder what really happened to Lila. In his search for answers, he discovers a wicked plot for power that seems certain to succeed. But Cassel has other ideas—and a plan to con the conmen."

Wither by Lauren DeStefano.

Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1)

"By age sixteen, Rhine Ellery has four years left to live. She can thank modern science for this genetic time bomb. A botched effort to create a perfect race has left all males with a lifespan of 25 years, and females with a lifespan of 20 years. Geneticists are seeking a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children. When Rhine is kidnapped and sold as a bride, she vows to do all she can to escape. Her husband, Linden, is hopelessly in love with her, and Rhine can’t bring herself to hate him as much as she’d like to. He opens her to a magical world of wealth and illusion she never thought existed, and it almost makes it possible to ignore the clock ticking away her short life. But Rhine quickly learns that not everything in her new husband’s strange world is what it seems. Her father-in-law, an eccentric doctor bent on finding the antidote, is hoarding corpses in the basement. Her fellow sister wives are to be trusted one day and feared the next, and Rhine is desperate to communicate to her twin brother that she is safe and alive. Will Rhine be able to escape--before her time runs out?Together with one of Linden's servants, Gabriel, Rhine attempts to escape just before her seventeenth birthday. But in a world that continues to spiral into anarchy, is there any hope for freedom?"

This week I also picked up some adult bargain books, each only a dollar. I usually don't buy adult books, but I've been really getting into it!

At First Sight, by Nicholas Sparks.

At First Sight

"There are a few things Jeremy Marsh was sure he’d never do: he’d never leave New York City; never give his heart away after barely surviving one failed marriage; and never become a parent. Now Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, engaged to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the start of their family. But just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, a mysterious and disturbing e-mail sets off a chain of events that will change the course of this young couple’s relationship. How well do we really know the ones we love? How do we handle the inevitable doubts, fears concerning parenthood, and stumbling blocks that are sometimes placed in our way? Continuing the story of the young couple introduced in Sparks’s bestselling True Believer, this novel captures all the heartbreak, tension, romance and surprises of those who are newly wed. An astonishing tale about the love between a man and a woman and between a parent and a child, At First Sight is about endings that bring new beginnings . . . tragedies that lead to unexpected joy . . . and, most of all, the magic of everlasting love."

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks.

The Lucky One

"When U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman half-buried in the dirt during his third tour of duty in Iraq, his first instinct is to toss it aside. Instead, he brings it back to the base for someone to claim, but when no one does, he finds himself always carrying the photo in his pocket. Soon Thibault experiences a sudden streak of luck—winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat that kills two of his closest buddies. Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph—his lucky charm. Back home in Colorado, Thibault can’t seem to get the photo—and the woman in it—out of his mind. Believing that she somehow holds the key to his destiny, he sets out on a journey across the country to find her, never expecting the strong but vulnerable woman he encounters in Hampton, North Carolina—Elizabeth, a divorced mother with a young son—to be the girl he’s been waiting his whole life to meet. Caught off guard by the attraction he feels, Thibault keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret.
