Looking up this book, on either barnesandnobles.com, amazon, borders.com or goodreads, the picture does this cover no justice! Before judging it you MUST see it in person!

The whole sleeve is shimmery and shiny, the title is written out in a beautiful teal font, and when looking a bit closer, you can even see the girl's angel wings in the background.

I usually don't like covers with just a character, simply because you can't really guess what the story might be about! But the cover Mercy, has a dark background, and you can see the angel wings indented behind the character. Automatically, you can tell the story is about angels, and it might not always be a happy and light read, because it has it's dark parts too.

When it comes down to it, I'm a sucker for this cover! It looks amazing!:D

Characters-

Favorite:

Hands down, no questions asked, Mercy the main character. At first her story and life is a bit confusing and hard to understand. She doesn't live a normal life, like you and I do. Instead she travels from one body to the next, never really knowing when the change might happen and not having the chance to prevent it.

Least Favorite:

All schools, groups, and clubs, have a "mean girl". Yes, she's the one, who talks behind everyone's back, pushes you around and humiliates you in front of a big crowd.

In Mercy this girl happens to be Tiffany, who plays the perfect "mean girl" role. All the way from calling her friends names, to thinking she's the best at everything.

Story Line:

This time around Mercy inhabits the body of a girl name Carmen, who is on her way to chorus camp. Instead of staying in a log cabin, Mercy stays with a host family, who has been through a lot of their own problems; including losing their daughter.

Not only has Ryan (their son) lost his twin sister, but in a way, his parents too. While Ryan still believes his sister is somewhere out there alive, his parents have given up and settled with the idea of Lauren never coming back. But Ryan, on the other hand, doesn’t want to even think about that, and continues searching.

Wanting to help Mercy uses a few of her powers, to find out information; hoping to bring Ryan farther along with his search.

Will Mercy reveal her true self? Her powers? Whats really going on with her? And most importantly, was Ryan right to think his sister is alive? Will they find her?

I had a awesome time reading Mercy, and kept me on my toes throughout the whole story! I can't wait to finish the rest of the series(:

To be honest, I haven't really looked at the cover in too much detail. Why? Because I didn't purchase this book, I received a e-book copy for review.

With just seeing it on the computer screen, it looks okay. I don't really want to judge it, without seeing it in person.

Characters-

Favorite:

My favorite character has to be Lord Domrey. Even though, the first time we get to meet him, he's drunk and riding backwards on his horse, but throughout the story he can really grow on you.

Like anyone, he makes mistakes but he bought a lot of slaves (including Rain and Coal) and let them go free. He took both Rain and Coal in, considering them as part of his family. Buying them clothes, shoes, feeding them and letting them live with him.

Domrey, is just a really sweet guy, who only wants the best for everyone.

Least Favorite:

I think my least favorite would have to be Sneeble and Morgrav. Sneeble is the jerk who sells slaves, and treats them like animals. While Morgrav, is also rich just like Domrey. But unlike him, he treats his "slaves", just like Sneeble.

What I really liked towards the end of the book, was when Rain went in the market and saw Sneeble. He didn't even notice that she was one of the slaves, he sold to Domrey, Sneeble just thought she was just another royalty.

Story Line:

Being born into slavery, Rain and her sister Snow, have never known anything different. Lord Peachtree, was a nice guy and treated his slaves fairly, never punishing them cruelly.

But Lord Peachtree, was running low on money and after selling he's horses, a few of his servants, he had nothing left but to sell Rain. Not wanting to leave her sister, she was forced into the hands of a cruel slave trader named Sneeble.

While staying with him, she meet a few other slaves including Coal. A skinny boy, who had just been in a fight. When Lord Domrey, rides into the market drunk and backwards on his horse, he offers to buy all of Sneebles slaves.

Giving them their name papers and setting them free, only Rain and Coal stayed with poor Domrey. Not wanting to leave he drunk and alone, they take it into their hands to take care of him.

I had a great time reading Seranfyll, even though I don't really like reading books on my computer, unless I REALLY have to. But I really liked it, it was something new and fresh. Nothing with vampires, or werewolves, or even angels!

Breaking Dawn: Movie Posters

This week has been so busy! But I have nothing planned for the rest of the day, besides reading, blogging and reading some (with a hint of tweeting too!). As we all know, or at least us Twilight fans, that the first part of Breaking Dawn is coming out this November! I get all jumpy and excited just thinking about it!!!:D

I don't feel that this cover, does the story inside justice. Yeah, were not suppose to judge a book by it's cover, but were all human and it's what we do.

First entering the contest to win this book, I wasn't really sure what Calli was, I never heard of it before than. But I'm always open to trying new things.

When the book arrived and I saw the cover, I wasn't really sure if I still wanted to read it. It really didn't pull me in; it just wasn't anything too special or fancy. Giving it a chance anyways, I loved the story! It was something that I've never read before! It was freakin' awesome!

Characters-

Favorite:

I usually like characters that I can easily relate to, or could be friends with (or that have super powers). In this book, my favorite is the main character, fifteen year old Calli.

No, I'm not fifteen, I don't have any foster brothers or sisters, and I have a dad. But like Calli, I used to be a bit over weight, I was shy and quiet most of the time, and I just let people treat me however they wanted. Even though, I changed all of that, thanks to blogging and going into high school, I still can connect and understand how she's feeling and what she's going through.

I wish Calli would have grown throughout the story more; maybe become more confident, and stronger, and just burst out of her shell. But I still really liked her, and had an awesome time reading about her(:

Least Favorite:

I think my least favorite person would have to be Cherish, even though I grew to like a tiny bit by the end of the book.

Yeah she's had a rough life, being pushed from one home to the next, but come on! These people are so nice to you, and treat you like their own daughter, why would you mess things up? For once you have a good home, and you ruin things by kissing Calli's boyfriend, stealing her stuff, and lying to her parents? Why would you even consider doing that to total strangers that were nice enough to take you in?

Story Line:

First meeting Calli, you get to know right away she's shy, quiet, and keeps to herself, not wanting any trouble. She has a great boyfriend, and two awesome moms.

Her step mom grew up in foster care, knowing how it feels to be move from one house to another; never really have a place to call home. So the small family decided on fostering a girl named Cherish, knowing that she's a troubled teen.

Calli, never having a sister before, is really excited. Well, that is until Cherish steals her things, her parents attention, kisses her boyfriend, and lies to everyone's face.

Calli was a kind of book that I've never read before. In a way it reminded me of Sarah Dessen's book and her writing style. Even though, it was a bit short, and I wanted to know more about what happened to Cherish and how things are going for Lemond, I loved it! I can't wait to read more from Jessica Anderson(:

I know, I know!! Usually I like cover's where you might be able to guess what the story is about, but than again who doesn't like a cover with a cute, dark, mysterious, and shirtless guy on it? I sure do(;

Characters-


Favorite:


I really liked the main character Will (a.k.a the hot guy on the cover), not just because of the way he acted, the way he treated Ella (Eloise), but also his past was really interesting.

I think when people hear "vampire" they automatically think Twilight, and Edward Cullen. But Will is so different, he doesn't act all weird, he doesn't treat Ella like she's glass, and doesn't have super strength powers. I just think, even Will is hundreds of years old, he's still down to earth.

Least Favorite:


Honestly, I don't think I have a least favorite character! Will was nice, his relationship with Ella was interesting. the help they received from two of their friends, which wasn't trusted at first, ended up being another reason why I continued reading.

Story Line:


I LOVED it, it even left me wanting more (not the cliff hanger kind, but the OMG that was A-mazing, I want more kind).

Even though not much went on, it was a lot of leading up to the next book, especially since it's the first to a series. It did have some action towards the end, when they confronted the man who bit Will. But again leaving    a lot out for the rest of the series.

Blood comes out on September 27, and you should definitely get yourself a copy!:D

School?!

Hey Dolls!

Welcome to Turning Pages everyone! Today I just wanted to make a quick update, nothing big.

School:

As we all know, school has just started, or started a few weeks ago for some of you. Mine began last Wednesday, and it's been stressful ever since. I haven't even had the time to pick up a book since Tuesday night.

Now that it's finally the weekend, I can just relax and read as much as I want. I'm trying to finish three e-books and two actual books by Sunday night....wish me luck!

LOVE IT! I love the dark background, and the bright purple "Beautiful Creatures"; it really pops!

When you look closely in the background you can see a forest too, which makes this book seem dark and creepy. Even though there wasn't much about a dark forest in the book, there was a lot of dark powers and things going on.

Characters-

Favorite:

My favorite would have to be Ethan! He just seems like the perfect guy. When he first sees Lena, he doesn't know why, but he wants to protect her:from all of the other girls at school.

Even when Lena was trying to push him away, he still kept trying and letting her know that he's there for her.

He just seems really sweet!(:

Least Favorite:

I liked Lena because she was so different than all of the other teenage girls in this small town; she looked different, acted different and treated people differently.

But during some parts of the story I just wanted to yell into the book, because of the way she felt sorry for herself. "Oh Ethan we can never be together!", well why not? You always talk about how you have no friends, and now that someone's trying to get close with you, your pushing them away? How much sense does that make?

Story Line:

We all know that in small towns or even small neighborhoods word travels fast. Before you know it, everyone knows your business, doesn't matter if you're cheating on your wife, running out of money, or moving in with your uncle a.k.a the town creep.

When Lena moves into the small town, everyone knows. No one's seen her uncle in over ten years, so when his niece moves in, people either feel sorry or scared.

But not Ethan, as a matter of fact, he actually wants to get to know Lena more, spend time with her, and always be around her. Not sure why, but he even wants to protect her from all the teasing of other students.

Some loves are meant to be, while others are cursed...which one are they?

Awesome book, even though it was a monster!

Book Review #47: Rules of Attraction

I have to admit the cover of Perfect Chemistry was....awkward, to say the least. I don't know if I would want to be seen out reading it. The way Alex is just laying over Brittany is just weird, maybe it's just too lovey dovey for me!

But thank goodness this cover is sooo much better! It's cute! I mean who wouldn't want to be kissed in the rain? And their in cars, reaching out, just to kiss each other!? AWWW!

Characters-

If you have read a few of my reviews before, than you know I usually have a favorite and least favorite character in every book (or at least something that someone did, that bothered me). But this time my favorite character is also my least favorite...is that even possible? I don't even know!

But it's Carlos! He was just hilarious at times, but at other times, I just wanted to grab him by the shoulders, shake him, and tell him to open his eyes to see whats right in front of him!

Maybe, halfway through Rules of Attraction I just wanted him to get off his high horse and get over his pride. If you like her who cares what someone might think? If you are willing to do anything for her (like Alex would for Brittany) then do it!

Story Line:

After Alex went off to college with Brittany, Carlos, Louis and their mom moved back to Mexico. Hearing that Carlos joined a gang, he forced him to come back from Mexico and move in with him; so he wouldn't be around that and would focus more on school.

Both Alex and Carlos, soon find out that Alex's student apartment (or dorm, same thing) was too small for the both of them, one of Alex's old professors invites Carlos to live with them. Feeling like a fish out of water, Carlos' feelings for Kiara (the professor's daughter) wasn't making things much easier.

I had such a great time reading Rules of Attraction, and I can't wait to read Chain Reactions, even though I don't want the series to end! I love Simone Elkeles' writing style, and how she includes real Spanish! If you haven't checked out this series, than you REALLY need to!

Cover:

I usually like covers, where you can guess what the story might be about before you even turn the book around and read the summary! Yeah, yeah, don't judge a book by it's cover, but truth be told, that's what pulls in interest. Unlike just a face, or a girl in a dress, or any character for that matter.

Obviously this cover has a face, but I'm actually really liking it. The black paint stripes tells a lot about the story! It has something to do with sports, my guess was football, and since it's a girl on the cover, maybe girls sports? Or boys against girls?

Characters-

Favorite:

Lissa (the main character) and Chelsea (and her bestfriend), all the way!

Even though Lissa was a little over protective of her brother and dad, it was understandable. Her mother passed away in a car crash and she doesn't want to lose some else who's really important to her. She seems like someone I could be close friends with.

While Lissa is more conservative, Chelsea is crazy! She's hilarious, she's open about everything; including her love for sex. Not caring what any of the over girls think, Chelsea admits to liking sex, and just because she's a girl doesn't mean she's not allowed to. Chelsea is really funny and I had a great time reading about her.


Least Favorite:

In Shut Out, I didn't really dislike anyone, all of the characters were really interesting; especially Chelsea!

When Lissa started this "hook up" strike, she did it because her boyfriend, Randy,was paying more attention to their High School, football and soccer rivalry, than her. She was tired of it. Getting together with a few of the other players' girlfriends, they decided not to give them sex, until they finally ended the rivalry.

But throughout this strike, Lissa lost her focus. Instead of doing this for the strike to end, she was doing it for herself; cause another rivalry, but this time between the girls and the boys.

I think this was the only thing that would bother me. Instead of noticing that the boys were done fighting with each, and actually started working together to finally get their girlfriends back, Lissa just kept pushing the girls farther away.

Story Line:

School rivalries? Yep, very high school has them. But ever heard of a rivalry between the football team and soccer team of the SAME school? No? Well of course not!

But at Hamilton High School, that's how it's been for a long time. So long the players don't even remember how it all started.

When Lissa, the girlfriend of the football team's quarterback, gets tired of this rivalry, she starts a sex strike. Of course she can't do this alone, so she gets a few of the players' girlfriends, and her best friend Chelsea (who doesn't actually date any player, but does occasionally have sex with a select few) together; agreeing not to have sex until the rivalry stops.

Instead of just ending one rivalry, Lissa and the girls start a whole new one; this time between themselves and the boys.

I had a great time reading Shut Out! It was HILARIOUS, and I can't wait to read more from Kody Keplinger(: Especially The DUFF!

Welcome to my very first monthly wrap. If you've been keeping up with Turning Pages, than you might already know that I usually do my "Everything That Happened This Week" on Mondays. After looking and leaving comments on a few blogs that I enjoy reading, I noticed a few had monthly "Wrap Up" posts.
