Summary:

"In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . . Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny? Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart."

Looking at the cover picture online, either at Barnes and Noble or Goodreads, is absolutely nothing, compared to holding the real thing in your hands; love it!

My Thoughts:

This isn't any old story about growing up or falling in love; this story is about a angel dealing with her purpose on earth, and deciding between the expectations she has to complete, and what her heart really wants her to do.

Clara is half angel, growing up with her mom and little brother on the sunny beaches of California, until, that is, she starts having these visions about a mysterious boy. These visions, which can come at any time throughout the day or night, are all clues to Clara's purpose on earth; each giving her hints on who and where this boy might be.

Knowing this visions aren't taking place in California, Clara and her family have to pack up and move, to a small town in the middle of nowhere. On her first day of school, Clara knows exactly who the boy of her dreams is; Christian. But once Clara starts being around another boy, and spending more and more time with Tucker, she starts having feelings for him instead.

When the time to fore fill her purpose finally comes, Clara needs to make a huge decision, save Christian the boy in her dreams, or Tucker, the boy she's spent all summer falling in love?
