Summary:
"Celeste Garrett has finally found a happy balance in her life as the Chosen One, thanks in large part to a certain hunky Irishman. But if there’s any lesson she should heed since receiving her calling it’s that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Soon a terrible new threat, unlike anything she’s ever encountered, causes her to make a gut-wrenching choice that will strip her of someone she holds dear.
As much as she’d like to have a pity party for one, there’s no time for that now because wedding bells are ringing in Gainesboro! In between dress fittings and rehearsal dinners Celeste will have to fend off attacking demons and leering pirates. As if the Dark Army wasn’t scary enough our heroine is faced with the horrifying trauma of attending a bachelorette party with her mom and watching Grams do Jello shots. Is a walk down the aisle even possible for a member of the Garrett family when the Dark Army is out to destroy them? More importantly, will the Dark Army Glee Club sing at the reception?
Raise your glass to the happy couple, and get ready for a wedding…Conduit-style."
Cover:
Love every cover in this series! They each represent the story inside, perfectly!
My Thoughts:
Celeste is finally balancing being the chosen Conduit, and her life. She still works at the coffee shop, and any free time she has, she's spending it with her Irish man candy! Everything seems to be going perfect for Celeste, she loves her job, a special boy holds her heart and everything in her Conduit world seems to be going okay too; even with her new guide pushing her hard.
Sadly Kendall is overcoming a cheating boyfriend and a break up, while Gabe is falling head over heels for Alaina; his fiance! SO CUTE!
But when do things ever work out perfectly for the three? Never.
When the trio learns that Caleb is connected to the titans they've been battling, and if they kill the titan whose blood was injected into Caleb when he was forced to join the demonic army, Caleb will die as well. Not willing to risk it, Celeste, Gabe, and Kendall stop killing titans...but for how long can they hold out? Sooner of later they will have to fight.
Celeste has to make a tough decision, even if it means losing someone she loves. She has to do this to protect him, she has to do this to keep him safe...even if it means losing him forever.
Sacrifice continues to follow the trio's battle against the demonic army, that is threatening to destroy earth. Celeste is still the same awkward, sarcastic and clumsy main butt kicking chick that I came to know and love in the first book. Gabe is still that big and sweet guy, but this time more towards Alaina. Kendall isn't her usual peppy and happy self, because of her recent break up, but we do get see glimpses of that side throughout Sacrifice.
We also learn much more about Caleb and his relation to the dark army. Rowan is shown at a entirely different angle in Sacrifice than he was in Embrace; he is much closer to Celeste, and in a way helps her overcome, her loss. Rowan is still that bad boy, but also kind of sweet the way he became Celeste's friend and helps her deal.
Stacey Rourke must love keeping her readers on their toes, because all three of these books have ended with a cliffhanger. But this time I don't have the next book, to just jump right into...I'll have to wait! (NOOOOOOO!)
If I told you how the book ended, or what the cliffhanger was, not only would I be giving the entire story, but also I wouldn't be a very good reviewer. I don't want to ruin things for you!
Over Sacrifice has to be my favorite installment from the Gryphon series...so far! Because who knows what Stacey Rourke has up her sleeve in the fourth book!
