My Very First Book Signing Experience!:D

Yes, my very first!:D

I'm new to this blogging and reviewing books, so I feel like going to my first book signing was a huge step. Kimberly Derting, author of The Body Finder series (yes series, book one and two are out! But she also let me know, she just finished book three, and a number four is on it's way!).

Not only did she sign my books, but I also got some swag(: Instead of putting pictures up now, I'll just post them tomorrow in my IMM, so make sure to check that out(:

WTB (What The Book?) #5

So as you all know, by my previous post, I'm actually typing this up today (Thursday), instead of Friday. I'm out camping with the family, getting that quality time in!:D But since my dad has Internet on his phone, I can just post from there(:

Finished Book: Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber.

"In her small town, dubbed "Dullsville," sixteen-year-old Raven — a vampire-crazed goth-girl — is an outcast. But not for long...

The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people — especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth."
-Barnes and Noble.

This book, didn't hold my attention very long. It was okay, but it's not exactly a book I would reread! I do hope the series gets better though!:D

Started Book: Need by Carrie Jones

"Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life’s been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother’s pretty much checked out. Now Zara’s living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays “safe.” Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother can’t deal.

Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn’t a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie—and not the cute, lovable kind with wings. He’s the kind who has dreadful, uncontrollable needs. And he’s trailing Zara."
-Barnes and Noble.

I'm only 1/3 into it, but so far I love the main character and the love triangle she stuck in!:D I hope the series doesn't disappoint me, I have very high expectations for it(:

Spend Time With The Family, Going Camping!

What's better than spending time with your family and being out in nature? Absolutely nothing!:D

That's why this weekend I'll be camping, right by a beach! I know it isn't that warm yet, but still! I'm really excited and can't wait to go!:D

This doesn't mean that I'm abandoning my blog, I'll be back by Sunday night. Plus, I'm working on typing posts for this weekend, and upload them while I'm camping from my cell phone!:D

So don't sit inside all day watching TV, go out and spend time with your family! Go on a walk, go to the beach, the zoo, or even bowling!:D Be active(:

Book Review #16: Vampire Kisses, #1.

Vampire Kisses (Vampire Kisses, #1)Title: Vampire Kisses.
Author: Ellen Screiber.
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books.
Publish Date: October 2009.

Summary:

Cover Opinion: 2/5
My favorite thing about this cover is the necklace, besides that I feel like it's just boring and doesn't attract the eye.

Characters-

Favorite:
My favorite person, has to be either Alexander (the new boy that just moved in the abandoned mansion), or Raven's little brother Nerd Boy (Billy). Their both down to earth and aren't what you expect. When you think of a little brother, you think he has to be annoying! But no, his very sweet, and truly loves his older sister:D

When you think of Alexander, you think of someone like Edward Cullen; someone who would avoid contact with you, but his really open to a relationship, maybe even more than any average (non-vampire) guy.

Least:
Trevor, no doubt! His a jerk to everyone, including his very own best friend. He uses people and if he doesn't get what he'll make sure you regret it. During the book, he even uses Raven's best friend, Becky (his dad owns part of Becky's farm), to find out more about Raven's relationship with Alexander.

Storyline: 4/5
Raven has never really fit in, not at home and not at school. Her best friend Becky is the only one she can talk to; when she wants to become a vampire, when she breaks into the empty mansion, and even when she finally meets Alexander, who just moved in.
But no love story is perfect! Trevor, a soccer player from school, of course has to intrude. He has always bullied and pushed Raven around (and even kissed her), but when he finds out that she's talking to Alexander he becomes jealous, and tries ruining everything.
When everything explodes during a school dance (both Alexander and Raven's very first), Alexander is confused and doesn't know what to do! After ignoring Raven for days on end, the truth comes out... *WARNING SPOILER ALERT* including that his a vampire!

Ending Opinion: 4/5
Short and sweet, it was exactly what I was hoping it would be!:D

Whats New Wednesday #6: Twisted

Twisted, by Sara Shepard.

"It’s been a year since Alison DiLaurentis disappeared from Aria , Hanna , Spencer and Emily’s lives , but someone is keeping her spirit alive. Someone who knows all the dark , terrible things these Pretty Little Liars have done in the last few months. Someone who will stop at nothing to make them pay…"

OMG! When I saw that there was going to be a ninth book, I was jumping out of my bootys!:D
I loved this series (I know, I don't have of their reviews up! But I plan on rereading the whole series soon, and writing reviews for them!), it's one of my favorites!
It doesn't come out til July 5, 2011 (UGHH! Can't wait that long!), but this does give me time to reread the other eight and make sure I don't forget any of those JUICY details!:D
This book is definitely on my wish list(:
What's new with you this Wednesday?

Everything That Happened This Week: April 18-24

This week went by SUPER quick! And the weekends, aren't long enough anymore:/
I really liked the idea of summing up everything I posted about for the past week; giving those lonely posts, that didn't receive a comment, another shot!:D
*Comments are very much appreciated*

Monday, April 18.

The week started out really slow due to Battle of the Books, I entered myself in (thank goodness that's over with! p.s. we won!:D). I had to cram books in, that where on the required reading list, meaning I didn't have time to read my own:/

Tuesday, April 19.

I'm such a little tease(; On Tuesday, I posted my fourth Teaser Tuesday, featuring the first book in the Vampire Kisses Series, Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber. This post also slightly mentions my 50 follower giveaway, and a book signing with Kimberly Derting (author of The Body Finder and The Desires of the Dead).

Wednesday, April 20.

I didn't post my What's New Wednesday #5, but let's say I did:D It featured the second book to The Lying game by Sara Shepard, Never Would I Ever. But sadly, it doesn't come out til around August (major sadface!).

Thursday, April 21.

WTB (What The Book) #4, took place Thursday instead of Friday. I wasn't really sure if I had time to do it on Friday, since I was painting eggs, and getting things ready for Easter. WTB, featured my recently finished book Marcelo in the Real World, by Stork and the book I started, The Body Finder by Derting. That's a meme hosted by ME, so check it out!:D

Friday, April 22.

On Friday, I blogged about my new layout *glances left and right*, just to show it off a bit. I would love to hear you opinions on it and if you have any improvements I could make, check that out, and comment:D

Saturday, April 23.

Not only did I have ONE fabulous post, but I had TWO!:D
1. The Body Finder Review, on Thursday I mentioned this in my WTB; hoping and praying that this book wouldn't let me down! *Note, which it didn't! If you want to see what I thought about it, just go check out my review!(:
2. The second thing I blogged (blogging is a addiction, by the way!)about was this week's IMM. I received five books, and lots of comments from you guys!:D Yaaay, that makes me really happy! This post was a HUGE success, and I'll try and get those reviews out ASAP(:

Sunday, April 24 (a.k.a. today)

I posted this, Everything That Happened This Week Post (obviously), but I also wished you guys a very Happy Easter(:

Happy EASTER!:D

*Bouncey* *Bouncy*
Sadly, I'm not the Easter bunny, but how cool would that be if I was?!:D

After about a hour search for my Easter Basket (Yes, I'm 16. There's nothing wrong with a teenager going on Easter Egg Hunts!....Right?), and a awesome breakfast (hard boiled eggs with Easter candy! Yum!) I just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Easter!:D

I have plans to go to a Easter BBQ (around dinner time) with my friends and family, and church right after(:
What are your plans? Comment below(:

"In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. The Truth About Forever, by Sarah Dessen.

"Macy's summer stretches before her, carefully planned and outlined. She will spend her days sitting at the library information desk. She will spend her evenings studying for the SATs. Spare time will be used to help her obsessive mother prepare for the big opening of the townhouse section of her luxury development.

But Macy's plans don't anticipate a surprising and chaotic job with Wish Catering, a motley crew of new friends, or . . . Wes. Tattooed, artistic, anything-but-expected Wes. He doesn't fit Macy's life at all&150so why does she feel so comfortable with him? So . . . happy? What is it about him that makes her let down her guard and finally talk about how much she misses her father, who died before her eyes the year before?"
-Barnes and Noble.

Wake, by Lisa McMann.

"For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can’t tell anybody about what she does they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant…"
-Barnes and Noble.

Take Me There, by Carolee Dean.

"Dylan has a bad-boy past and a criminal record. He knows that rich, beautiful Jess is way too good for him—but she has always been the one person who sees through his tough exterior and straight to his heart, and he has been hopelessly in love with her from the first time they met. He would change his life for a chance with her.

But trouble follows Dylan wherever he goes, and a deadly mistake soon forces him to hit the road and leave his dreams behind. He’s on the run and in search of answers—answers to questions he wishes he’d never asked."
-Barnes and Noble.

Dreamland, by Sarah Dessen.

"Rogerson Biscoe, with his green eyes and dark curly hair, is absolutely seductive. Before long, sixteen-year-old Caitlin finds herself under his spell. And when he starts to abuse her, she finds she's in too deep to get herself out..."

Book Review #15: The Body Finder

The Body Finder by Kimberly DertingTitle: The Body Finder.
Author: Kimberly Derting.
Publish Date: February 15, 2011.
Publisher: Harper.

Summary:

"Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself."
-Barnes and Noble.

Cover Opinion: 4/5
I love black and white covers, their my favorite! This cover is pretty, but I'm not sure if the blue is a flower. But it still looks really good and it matches it's second book well(:

Characters-

Favorite:
I could never pick between the main character, Violet or her best friend/boyfriend Jay! These characters have a lot of depth, and I love the chemistry they have together. Team Jay!:D Woot woot!

Least Favorite:
In this book, I can easily say I don't have a least favorite(:

Storyline: 5/5
Fabulous! I loved that it was something different. For once I actually liked that it didn't just revolve around the romance-y parts, but trust me it did have its AWWW moments:D

When you first meet Violet Ambrose, she's running in circles. Her best friend Jay Heaton (ever since they were younger), changed over the summer and Violet has feelings for him. But she doesn't want to risk losing her friendship, so she claims their just friends. Not only lying to her Chelsea and Claire (two of her buddies), but also herself.

Ever since she was younger, Violet had the ability to sense murdered bodies and their murders; only her family and Jay knows. When a few girls in her small town get kidnapped and murdered, Violet's senses are going crazy. She feels the need to help, going out (with Jay, for protection: Awwww!) looking for the murder (or two). But when she becomes a victim, everything changes!

Ending Opinion: 5/5
I don't want to give too many spoilers! But I had my suspensions on who it could be, but I never knew it would end the way it did!:D If you haven't read The Body Finder, you definitely should, fantastic read(:

WTB (What The Book) #4

Since I'll be spending time with the family tomorrow (painting eggs, and getting ready for Easter), and since I don't have anything better to do (ahah, total dork) I figured I should post this weeks WTB a little earlier(:

WTB? Simply stands for, What The Book? I host this meme, but anyone can just join in!(: If you do, please leave your link in the comments I would love to read your WTB.

~State the most recent book you've finished or the best book you've read of that week, did you like it? Why or why not?
~You could add a small summary and a picture.
~If you have a review of it, you could also post the link.
~NO spoilers, please!(:
~What book do you plan on reading next, or currently reading?
~Again adding a summary and picture are optional.
~Let us know when or if a review will be up.
~Just copy and paste these rules and the picture above, and make your own WTB?.

Finished Book: Marcello in the Real World, by Stork.

"Marcelo Sandoval hears music no one else can hear--part of the autism-like impairment no doctor has been able to identify--and he's always attended a special school where his differences have been protected. But the summer after his junior year, his father demands that Marcelo work in his law firm's mailroom in order to experience "the real world."
There Marcelo meets Jasmine, his beautiful and surprising coworker, and Wendell, the son of another partner in the firm. He learns about competition and jealousy, anger and desire. But it's a picture he finds in a file -- a picture of a girl with half a face -- that truly connects him with the real world: its suffering, its injustice, and what he can do to fight."
-Barnes and Noble.

Was a ok book, it dragged on forever, and was very detailed. Also it wasn't the kind of book I would have chosen; it was the last book I need for Battle of the Books (thank goodness that's over with!). I don't know if I would recommend this book to friends, maybe to a older audience.

New Book: The Body Finder, by Kimberly Derting (whose hosting a book signing at my local Barnes and Noble, next Friday!)

Wow I believe I'm only on Chapter 14 so far, and its awesome. The characters are all really cool and down to earth. I plan on purchasing the second book (Desires of the Dead) during the book signing!:D I recommend this to anyone that likes romance and mystery.

Whats New Wednesday #5: Never Have I Ever

I know, I know, it's not Wednesday anymore! But I had ton of homework yesterday, so I figured it was ok to just do it today (Whats New Thursday? Special edition:D)

So I guess I'll just get right to it! This weeks book is.....

Never Have I Ever, by Sara Shepard (Part 2, of The Lying Games)

I don't have my own copy of The Lying Games, but I did borrow it from a friend and it was AWESOME! I figured (and hoped) it would be almost like her Pretty Little Liars series, and it was!(;

Sadly they didn't have a summary on the Barnes and Noble website, but either ways the cover is really fantastic and this is a definite buy for me!:D

In My Mailbox #2

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi from The Story Siren.
It gives all bloggers a chance to show what books we either bought or purchased this that current week!:D

*WARNING* Battle of the Books, is this Tuesday! So I haven't really found time to read on my own! (sadface!) Meaning that this week's mailbox contained only four books.

Alright, let's get started!(:

Twenty Boy Summer, By Sarah Ockler

"According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago."
-Barnes and Noble.

It's Not Summer Without You, By Jenny Han

"Belly's life is about to change. Since her brief relationship with Conrad fizzled out this past winter, she'll be staying home for the first time. Her best friend, Taylor, has lots of plans for them-boat parties and tanning by the pool and new boys to obsess over. But when Jeremiah calls and says that Conrad has disappeared, all roads seem to lead back to the beach house. Will Belly spend another summer chasing after Conrad, or will she finally be able to let him go?"
-Barnes and Noble.

The Prince of Mist, By Carlos Ruiz Zafon

"It's wartime, and the Carver family decides to leave the capital where they live and move to a small coastal village where they've recently bought a home. But from the minute they cross the threshold, strange things begin to happen. In that mysterious house still lurks the spirit of Jacob, the previous owners' son, who died by drowning.

With the help of their new friend Roland, Max and Alicia Carver begin to explore the strange circumstances of that death and discover the existence of a mysterious being called the Prince of Mist—a diabolical character who has returned from the shadows to collect on a debt from the past. Soon the three friends find themselves caught up in an adventure of sunken ships and an enchanted stone garden—an adventure that will change their lives forever."
-Barnes and Noble.

Ghost Town, By Rachel Caine

"While developing a new system to maintain the town's defenses, genius student Claire Danvers discovers a way to use the vampires' powers to keep outsiders from spreading news of Morganville's "unique" situation.

But when people in town start forgetting who they are-including the vampires-Claire has to figure out how to pull the plug on her experiment before she forgets how to save herself...and Morganville."
-Barnes and Noble.

But sadly when I purchased this book, I had no clue it was part of a series (why does this always happen to me?), I'll have to get the other books before I begin reading this one:/ silly me xD

Thanks for stopping by again! I love doing IMMs their really fun(:

WTB (What The Book) #3

~What book do you plan on reading next, or currently reading?
~Again adding a summary and picture are optional.
~Let us know when or if a review will be up.
~Just copy and paste these rules and the picture above, and make your own WTB?.

The most recent book I've completed this week is The Last Exit to Normal by Harmon. This really isn't a book I would pick off the shelf, but since it's on the Battle of the Books (which you'll be hearing a lot about in this post, and in two others) list, so I was required to read it along with a few others. The Last Exit to Normal has little to do with romance (Shocker! I know!). The book wasn't what I'd hoped it to be, but it was still worth the read. (Reviews for all of the books, I was required to read will be posted on both Saturday and Monday; there's a lot)

The book I'm currently turning pages in, is Paper Towns by John Green (another Battle of the Books novel). I have heard a lot about this book, but it never really caught my attention and I just has a lot of other things to read or get done. After just reading part one, its action packed, and revenge seeking with a sprinkle of romantic-ness on top! Awesome, love it so far!:D

Book Review #14: The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1)Author: Jenny Han
Publish Date: December 2010
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Summary:

"Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along."

Cover Opinion:

Everything about this cover is perfect! Whats wrong with two cute boys? Absolutely NOTHING. I love the way the title is written, all lower case and the "pretty" is cursive and orange instead of brown. I love that the cover is white, it just makes it seem open and welcoming, unlike dark colors.

Character Opinion-

Favorite:

Belly (also known as Belly Button, aha what a cute nickname!:D), the main character. Instead of being perfect, shes a dork (just like us) and very down to earth. She has emotions real girls her age would have. Her relationships with all the other characters (Conrad, Jermiah, their mom Susannah, Cam, her brother Steven, and her Mom), are also very interesting; the love/hate relationship with her brother, feeling close but also at the same time far from her mom, feeling closer to Susannah then her own mom, her feelings for Conrad, the time she spends with Cam, and the close friendship she has with Jermiah.

Least Favorite:

Has to be Belly's best friend Taylor. Belly decides to bring her to the beach house, when she was fourteen. She causes a lot of problems, and all she cares about is boys and getting their attention. She makes me really angry, especially when we found out that she kissed not only Jermiah just after Belly did, Conrad Belly's crush, but also her older brother, Steven. Taylor is just too outgoing to be Belly's best friend.

Storyline Opinion:

Loved it!:D It left me wanting more! So I was really happy to findout that its a series, and the second book was already in stores; I purchased it the day I finished The Summer I Turned Pretty. I really liked how it didnt just include romance, but also Conrad and Jermiah's mom, Susannah has cancer, her mom and her dad's divorce, and the different relationships she had with the boys, and having to pick between them. Basically I have very high expectations for the rest of the trilogy(;

Ending Opinion:

It almost ending too quickly, I just wanted to keep reading....but sadly ran out of pages! *SPOILER* Belly doesnt have a exclusive relationship with Conrad, but she did promise him that she'll always be there for him (AWWW!) and she finally gets a kiss from him. Belly doesn't reply to any of Cams calls (Yaaay!), shes best friends with Jermiah, and Taylor's out of her life. Rockin' ending!:D

Whats New Wednesday #4: We'll Always Have Summer

Book? We'll Always Have Summer, By Jenna Han.

Series? Yes, it is the last book in a trilogy (#1 The Summer I Turned Pretty, #2 It's Not Summer Without You). I just finished the first book (the review will be posted right after this!), and the second book I purchased just two days ago (it'll be in my IMM this week).

Summary:"Belly has only ever been in love with two boys, both with the last name Fisher. And after being with Jeremiah for the last two years, she's almost positive he is her soul mate. Almost. Conrad has not gotten over the mistake he made when he let Belly go even as Jeremiah has always known that Belly is the girl for him. So when Belly and Jeremiah decide to make things forever, Conrad realizes that it's now or never--tell Belly he loves her, or lose her for good.
Belly will have to confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face a truth she has possibly always known: she will have to break one of their hearts."

Cover? Awesome, all three of the book covers remind me of the beach! I like that their white instead of a dark color (it makes it seem "non-fairy-vampire-regular old high school drama"-ish, aha sorry I don't know how else to call it!)

Want It? YESSS! O-M-G! I loved the first book, and can't wait to start the second(: It's filled to the top with romance, and drama. It also brings up a lot of different topics such as true friendships, family, relationships, and sickness. Many of these topics are relate-able for teenagers now-a-days, which is great, it lets you understand what the character is going through. So I hope the second and third book meet my high expectations!:D

Thank you sooo much for taking the time to stop by! I would love to get to know you guys and see what your blogs are about!(: Even if you have a blog that doesn't revolve around books, please comment below and put a link. I would love to check it out!:D lisa

The most recent book I've read The Rock and the River, Kekla Magoon. I would normally not read this type of book, but I did enter in the Battle of the Books, and this happends to be on the list. Oddly enough I kind of liked it, its not one of my favorites and wasnt hard to put down. But it was a lot better than I expected.

"This moving debut novel is set in Chicago in 1968. Thirteen year-old Sam Childs is the main character. He idolizes his older brother, Steven, whom he calls Stick. Their father is an attorney who is very involved in the civil rights movement. In fact, Dr. Martin Luther King has even been a dinner guest on a couple of occasions. The plot revolves around Sam's conflict between his father's philosophy of non-violence and Stick's increasing involvement with the Black Panthers. Sam accidentally discovers a gun that Stick has hidden in their bedroom and his struggle grows. He hates going against his father, but when their friend Bucky is beaten by the police, arrested and falsely accused of assaulting the officers, Sam is drawn toward accepting the policy of the Black Panthers. A sub-plot concerns his growing attachment to Maxie, a girl from the projects. The title evokes the decision Sam must make as to whether he will be the solid rock (like his dad), or the ever flowing river (like his brother)."
-Childerns Literature Review.

My current read is The Summer I Turned Pretty, by Jenny Han. I just began reading today, but I love it so far. The main character puts a lot of emotion into the story, not just towards the boy she has feelings for but also towards her parents divorce. When I finish reading I'll definatly put a reivew up!:D So look forward for that!

"Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens
between the months of June and August.
-Barnes and Noble.

Again, thank you very much for stopping by and WTB-ing with me!(: I hope you join in and make your own WTB. Have a great rest of the weekend, and keep turning pages!(:
